The author offers a balanced historical account of Julian's life, discussing his strengths and weaknesses; however, there is not much new in the way of analysis or historical facts. Like some other reviewers, I read Martin Ford's "Lights In The Tunnel"(which this book references) and thought it dealt with this subject matter far more realistically and with enough depth to add something to the discussion.
The initial chapters of the book attempt to lay out the problem, but only in the most general way. Thank you, Mr. Create your own Reality

That point about indescribability
