Nathan's is more readable, fluid, and conversational, and, one imagines, closer to Soseki's Japanese than the previous version; but in either version, this book is a masterpiece.
I was amused to see some of the speculations (mentioned in the introduction) about how the novel might have ended had Soseki lived to complete it. For college students this book is a MUST. The author also discusses computing, digital communications technology, and digital multimedia in detail on each technology.
