I purchased it to enjoy the artwork that I'd seen in person and to use as a coffee table book. The Orsay is known for it's collection of Impressionist art, but I felt the book displayed very little of that style. While I understand nudity as part of art, especially during the Impressionist and Modern periods, this book contains a large number of nudes, far too many, and some too graphic, for me to feel comfortable displaying this book in my living room where my young grandchildren would have access to it. To my knowledge this is the best recent book on the paintings in the D'Orsay. The color and content are terrific.. Unlike many of it's predecessors including many of the books offered in the museums gift shop this new book on The D'orsay is comprehensive with very high quality color balanced reproductions of all the paintings.I know the works in this museum quite well and I can say with confidence this is the first book I have seen in 20 years of looking that represents beautifully th
