This volume is a reprint of the most through treatise on pacifism and the separation of church and state from the early era of the Stone-Campbell movement. Drawing on the Old and New Testaments as well as the witness of the early church, Lipscom ( makes a strong case for the church's non-involvement in civil government (in contrast with the divine government, which is being demonstrated through the church community).

Want an ex-pat's view of America? A crime reporter's insight into the problems of the ghetto? A father's observations on education? A good-old boy's critique of American women his own age? Fred lets it all hang out in this compilation of his online columns, and it's a good read. This is a superb book if you want to learn the truth behind the Gulfstream mystique. Five stars for sure.. The book club questions at the end were good for both parent and kid to go through.
We enjoyed it so much, we gave it to my sis-in-law and her daughters to read.. Y
